More bad news on the local restaurant scene. Damn. From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

ASHEVILLE — After 20 years, Southside Café will close sometime in the next month or so.
The winter storm hit, recession and burst of new restaurant competition in south Asheville put the longtime café in a hole it couldn’t crawl out of said, said owner Lance Carter.

With the multiple restaurants opening in Biltmore Park off Long Shoals Road and Tupelo Honey Café’s expansion on Hendersonville Road, “the pie was being split between all of us,” he said.

“When we opened, the Southside Café and Black Forest Restaurant were probably the only restaurants (in the area),” he said. The café, which specializes in fine dining and is well-known for its pimento cheese, will probably shut down in the next 30 to 40 days.
Carter is selling the restaurant and expects to have it sold in that time frame.

I am close friends of the family and there is MUCH more to the story
and it does not have to do with other eateries in the area. Internal Affairs and Money Management will be the direct faults here. One of the cardinal sins Greed comes to mind, but there is nothing of what the Employee’s have caused for this business to suffer the wrath of others. It is no fault of their own "Employee’s".

I love the incipient responses of "a lot more that is being said". Why doesn’t the writer just tell us what is not being said? What, afraid of the internet police? Immature drivel at its worst form

Oh no! No more pimento cheese?

Lance, will you share your recipe, please? Otherwise, many Ashevillians will suffer painful withdrawal.
