So are we done with Michael?

Now that Michael Jackson is “resting comfortably” at this Neverland estate, are we done? Probably not.

As usual, the media has to find something to keep the story going, because it hasn’t found the next big celebrity trial to pounce on yet. So there’s this:

Gallup: Public Splits, In ‘Major Racial Divide,’ on Michael Jackson Verdict

NEW YORK– An overnight Gallup Poll released today shows that 48 percent of Americans disagree with the verdicts clearing pop star Michael Jackson of all charges in the molesting case and only 34 percent agree – and they are split along a “major racial divide,” Gallup said.

Whites disagree with the verdict by about 2-1 (54 percent to 28 percent) while nonwhites take the opposite view by 2-1 (56 to 26).

This recalls the O.J. Simpson verdict in 1995, when whites disagreed with him getting off by 62 percent to 27 percent while nonwhites supported it by 67 to 24.

The pollsters here are full of crap. There is no major divide over the verdict, and there is no comparison to the OJ verdict. The media needs to get off the story and let it go.

We all know Michael Jackson is one weird dude, who probably did some nasty things with young boys. Black and white folk agree. The Rev. Sharpton the other night summed it up, “We all know Michael ain’t got nothin’ to be proud of.”

The reason Jackson got off was because of the ridiculous nature of the charges brought against him (according to one of the molestation charges, Jackson had supposedly started his fondling of the boy after the Bashir documentary hit the airwaves – that makes no sense), and the distrust engendered by the family doing the accusing (especially the scheming mom).

The other reason that Michael Jackson moonwalked out of that courtroom was Thomas Mesereau. That man is a frickin maddog in the courtroom. A Rolling Stone magazine story about the trial said that Mesereau’s cross-examination of the boy victim called it the most brutal fragging of a witness ever seen.

If I ever go down, I want Mesereau at my side.
