First Aid Kit!

Two tickets to the first commenter to tell us the first names of the two sisters who sing lead.

Please use your full first and last name in your comment, so we know who to tell the Peel to hold tickets for. Contest open only to those who haven’t won anything from Ashevegas in the past month.

From the Peel:

Bittersweet is the word the Söderberg sisters prefer. “We like bittersweet songs, songs that affect you differently depending on how you interpret them,” says the younger of the Swedish siblings that make up First Aid Kit. “Making the melodies and lyrics head in different directions is very deliberate,” adds big sister Johanna. “A song like ‘Emmylou’ sounds cheerful, but the lyrics are the saddest thing you ever heard.”

First Aid Kit’s first US-recorded album, The Lion’s Roar, juxtaposes sadness and beauty in the best traditions of folk and country music. They even cite the Louvin Brothers’ cheerfully brutal version of the old murder ballad “Knoxville Girl” as the perfect example of the sweet and sour they adore. And this new carefully constructed collection deftly succeeds in setting references to their hometown of Stockholm and long, dark Scandinavian winters against a backdrop of country-rock swing.

Their songs are filled with wisdom gained from memories that seem to stretch a thousand years or more into the past. These are the words of truly old souls.” – Paste

Doors: 8:00 pm / Show: 9pm Tickets: $20 advance / $22 day of show

Sounds Like: These Swedish sisters opened for Lykke Li and now are headlining their own show, with their storybook lyrics & folky melodies

Jenna, you’re correct, but since you won tix in the last 30 days, to be fair, I need to pick the next correct commenter…
