Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will visit Asheville on Sunday afternoon, according to all the news outlets. It’s about time the Republicans showed up in Western North Carolina to campaign. You’d think they’d given up or something.

I can’t wait!

You can go to this web site and print tickets.

From the Charlotte Observer:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make a weekend campaign stop in North Carolina.

A release from the John McCain campaign said Palin will visit Asheville on Sunday for a “Road To Victory Rally” at the Asheville Civic Center.

The event is scheduled to begin after 4 p.m.

Palin last visited North Carolina with an appearance at Elon University on Oct. 16. Sunday’s rally will be her third visit to the state in as many weeks.

From the Times-News:

Sarah Palin will be in Asheville Sunday afternoon at the Civic Center, according to an e-mail from a field representative for North Carolina Victory ’08. Tickets are available at the Victory ’08 office located at 16 Regent Park Boulevard, Suite I, in Asheville Friday from 4-8 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s a limit of two per person.

It’s November 9, 2008, Ash, and I must admit I’m deeply depressed. We’re 5 days post-election and I never did get any additional response from HILARY AND PARIS BFF. Maybe he/she can’t bear the outcome of the Obama/McCain race for the White House. Maybe he/she just has nothing more to say about any of this historic step forward for America. Or maybe it’s just the fact our political discussion has slipped way down to Ashvegas Page 8 and he/she simply can’t count that high. That’s my favored theory behind this silence I find deafening, because Math is hard and takes a decent education to master. Anyway, Obama/Biden `12

Well, Ash, it’s finally over! But I must confess my post-election glee may be inspiring a level of human compassion I’ve never before experienced. I think I’m actually feeling a bit of sorrow, perhaps even some guilt– concerning HILARY AND PARIS BFF– regarding how this all turned-out, and also for how I pounced on his/her inane, political blog-posts whenever those caustic, fascist messages invaded my computer screen. But the reality is that it wasn’t even a fair fight. Just like Obama versus McCain, both Barack and I simply argued honest, logical and plain sense about our heartfelt beliefs in how America needs to take control of itself again– to return to being the USA the rest of the world had always admired. And I think we both share a certain level of respect for our opponents. We, of course, wish them well. However, I’m also certain I can speak for President Barack Obama in admitting WE ARE REALLY HAPPY TO HAVE KICKED ASS AND TAKEN NAMES! Thanks of this ALL CAPS idea, HILARY AND PARIS BFF. Hope to see you back here at Ashvegas in four-years.

It is 12:37 Monday morning, Ash, and still no response from my Republican friend HILARY AND PARIS BFF. I am truly disappointed. I wonder if she enjoyed Sean Hannity’s "very important documentary" on FOX News Sunday night. I wonder whether she took advantage of One Stop Early Voting or will head on down to her local polling place tomorrow. I wonder how she will ever cope in an America governed by President Barack Obama. I wonder who she will vote for in 2012. I wonder whether she will stay hateful, bitter and ignorant for the next four-years. I wonder if she realizes that I couldn’t care less. Happy trails, HILARY AND PARIS BFF. Until we meet again.

I just realized that in my latest(10/31/08)response to the politically, socially and informationally clueless fellow poster HILARY AND PARIS BFF, I didn’t even mention Governor Sarah Palin. But then I guess I didn’t have to.

The about-to-be-former Republican Party’s choice for VP candidate speaks volumes for herself, and it’s all comically frightening to any intelligent person. What will NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" do when she limps back up to Alaska with her tail between her legs? Who even cares anymore? Ms. Palin is about to become yesterday’s news.

So on this Sunday before the most important presidential election of my lifetime, I thank God, who I am now absolutely certain is looking down upon our planet and helping make the right thing happen here in America.

Here we go again, Ash. My apologies, in advance, for this political posting of War & Peace-style, epic proportion:

Wow, HILARY AND PARIS BFF, you really do need some serious schooling on so many levels! Let’s run them down for you, shall we?

    1) Posting IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is not only rude, it’s also an unacceptable practice in the rarified air of The Blogosphere. It’s considered to be the same as YELLING. But maybe you’re just such a bitter, angry person that you feel the need to SCREAM everything you write. ALL CAPS, however, is the least of your behavioral problems.

    2) It appears one of your strongest suits is flat-out ignorance. No one, especially true thinkers and regular computer users, believes even half of what they read on the Internet. So you get an e-mail that indicates something “very important” will air on FOX News this weekend. That’s all you need to buy-into the “truth” of that electronic message? You simply accept any e-mail you receive as gospel? To say you are insanely gullible is an understatement.

    3) Now for Sean Hannity, who is perhaps the most arrogant, mean-spirited and biased person on television— ever. He can’t even be classified as a journalist. Hannity is nothing more than a blustery riot-inciter, just like Rush Limbaugh. They have plenty of loyal fans, who accept every bit of the hateful, Right Wing bile they spew. What neither has is even a scintilla of honesty or credibility as communicators of information. Tokyo Rose was less agenda-driven than propagandists like Sean Hannity. The reason “no one in the news media was willing to do this”— Sunday’s upcoming hatchet-job on Obama— is because virtually none of Sean’s version of the Barack story will be true. You say he’s “passionate”? He really is just plain old “pathetic”. Almost as pathetic as FOX News viewers who hear what they want to hear, and only what they want to hear. Hannity commands an audience of lemmings and he’s obviously proficient in achieving that goal. He counts on viewers without a lick of sense, who simply want to be told what to think. So much for engaging in provocative thought and making-up your own mind. I guess that takes us back to Point #2 and your world-class ignorance. But I digress. You also state “most of you watch FOX News”. What say we take a look at some numbers? FOX News prime-time averages an estimated 1.5 million viewers each night. ABC’s top-rated World News With Charles Gibson draws somewhere in the neighborhood of 8.3 million. Why aren’t all of those other folks tuned to FOX instead? Because they are not idiotic, blind followers.

    4) As for the truth about Barack Obama’s life story, there have been several legitimately “fair and balanced” documentaries produced and broadcast by a variety of media outlets. One in particular was a PBS “Frontline” that aired recently, comparing the personal and professional histories of Senator Obama and Senator McCain. Yes, it actually presented both sides in this 2008 bid for the presidency. Did you take the time to watch that one? Did you watch the Obama Infomercial Wednesday night, to get the candidate’s own take on who he is and what he wants to do as president? Of course not. Because Sean Hannity didn’t tell you to watch either program.

    5) Beyond broadcasting, Barack Obama has been “vetted”(do you know what that word means?)inside-out for the past two-years, the length of his campaign for the presidency. That fact-checking has been done by independent researchers, fellow politicians, historians and just plain folk doing a little bit of learning on their own. You know what they’ve discovered? Senator Obama was the first African-American President of the Harvard Law review, who skipped what would have been a lucrative career in private, legal practice. Instead, he chose to get involved as a “community organizer” in disenfranchised neighborhoods on the South Side of Chicago. From there, he became an Illinois State Senator and eventually won a U.S. Senate seat in Washington. Since he arrived on Capitol Hill, he has consistently fought a corrupt Bush Administration on many fronts— including an illegal war on Iraq, our failed economy, a public education system in disarray, a critical lack of good jobs, a pitiful health care situation and an energy/environmental policy that caters to big oil and big business, but abandons any real plan for lessening our dependency on foreign oil or saving the planet for future generations. Most of the citizens of this nation(not FOX News viewers)already know that and more about Senator Barack Obama. He’s been an open book since he first appeared on the national political scene in 2004. What they get from the likes of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh is all the lies they don’t need to hear.

    6) As for Senator John McCain, he has an abysmal record regarding the aforementioned national issues, voting in George Bush’s favor more than 90% of the time, over the past eight-years. He’s also abandoned his Straight Talk Express and Maverick approach to politics, for those tired, old below-the-belt GOP campaign tricks that are as ugly as they are false and unfair. We have Karl Rove(dual & conflicting roles as McCain campaign advisor & FOX News contributor)to thank for perpetuating his sinister form of political chicanery. All this is easy enough to confirm. That is if you want to stretch your mind a little and learn something for yourself, instead of relying on television and radio personalities to tell you what to think.

    6) Oh, I almost forgot. Barack Obama is not radical, he’s progressive. He’s not a Socialist, he’s a Democrat. He’s not a Muslim, he’s a Christian. Barack Obama was born on the fertile, volcanic soil of our 50th state- Hawaii- and is as American as they come. Only racist, hateful fear-mongers dispute any of that. And you’ll find most of those anchoring on FOX News and the EIB Network.

In closing, finally, your “prayer” should be that America need not be fearful of a Black man in the White House. Because let’s face it, Barack’s skin color is a huge issue that no one wants to admit still matters to too many White people in this country. I just hope the lion’s share of undecided voters lets go of that age-old prejudice and offers this inclusive, forward-thinking, intelligent, compassionate and proven leader their prayers, good wishes and support. Let’s also face the fact that it’s the 21st century and we’re all in this together. We need to be more unified and less divisive, in the way we’re supposed to live together as tolerant Americans.

My own personal hope is that we will soon be calling him President Barack Obama. Go ahead, try to say it just once, HILARY AND PARIS BFF. It’ll help you feel better and get you more accustomed to the reality of our new Commander In Chief.

Hey John Carmello & HILARY AND PARIS BFF. So nice to hear from a couple of Neocon-artists! Sorry creative writing’s not your style, nor to your liking, John. But the fact you think Sarah Palin is classy pretty much says it all. And just in case you didn’t know, protests are not generally about respect , especially when the demonstrators are being heckled by disrespectful, hateful, homophobic warmongers, who are waiting in line to hear the broken-record, talking-points speech of a fascist, fanatical candidate for public office. Just in case you aren’t following me here, I’m not talking about Joe Biden.

As for the James Taylor: Change We Need concert at Martin Luther King Park October 19th, the ticket giveaway was well publicized on several local radio stations and in the Asheville Citizen-Times. All those media outlets announced the three locations where free tickets would be handed-out on a first come, first served basis—two per person. Those three spots were One-Stop Early Voting locations—one downtown at the Senior Center on Grove Street, one at the West Asheville Public Library and the other at Zeis Hall on the UNCA campus. As the media told its listeners and readers, tickets would be available beginning at 10:00AM(that’s when the Early Voting polls open)and would be given away until they were gone. Clear so far? Those tickets were distributed by local Obama Campaign volunteers, sitting at tables outside the required 50-foot politicking distance mandated by the Board Of Elections. On top of that, you didn’t have to Early Vote to get tickets. You simply had to show-up and wait in the long lines that formed way before the polls opened that day. You also didn’t have to pledge allegiance to Barack Obama. I have no doubt there were John McCain supporters in the line who also just happen to also be James Taylor fans. They got tickets. Everybody got tickets, until volunteers ran out. I know. I was there.

As for your “DINOSAURS” remark, HILARY AND PARIS BFF, there were people of all ages at that concert—from hip grandparents, to proud parents with their kids, to teens likely checking-out Sweet Baby James for the first time. They all sat on the grass and enjoyed the passionate, poetic and still very poignant lyrics of North Carolina native James Taylor. He opened with an acoustic guitar version of the Star Spangled Banner, then segued into all his most famous songs. People sang along. Taylor also took a few occasions to talk about how important voting is to the fabric of American society. You can’t argue with that. Unless you’re supporters of a Bush Administration that managed to steal two presidential elections. But we the people won’t let that happen this time, not even with Karl Rove running the McPalin show. Count on it. YES WE CAN!

Sorry that was so long-winded, Ash, but my posting friends left me with plenty of ground to cover. I hope that answers all their questions/accusations. I do have two requests of HILARY AND PARIS BFF. Learn how to spell Hillary(it’s two “Ls”)and please STOP WRITING IN ALL CAPS WHEN YOU POST! That gives real bloggers headaches. Peace out.

It’s a real treat to read what the knowledgeable Liberals write. And the descriptive ways they express their views! Go Sarah… Her classiness is only superseded by the class that Joe Biden exhibits. Hah! It’s amazing that those protesters actually expect anyone to respect their views!

28,000+ for Obama. About 8,000 for Palin. You do the math. Or did they even offer that course in school while you were learning man and dinosaurs roamed the Earth together? Also, how is a free concert ticket giveaway "illegal"? All who wanted a James Taylor ticket got one, regardless of who they plan to vote for November 4th. You’re worse than Sean Hannity, but feel free to stick your head right back in the sand to watch FOX News. You folks are afraid of the truth and apparently content to stay that way.

Perfect, Gordon! And while McPalin loyalists cram the Civic Center to guzzle Neocon kool-aid, local Obama activists will be walking neighborhoods and working phone banks to make sure thinking voters don’t miss their chance for real change on the 4th. All those Saran Palin photos and autographs gathered Sunday will be worthless 9 days later. It’s about time her 15 minutes of fame is up.
