First Andrew Bird‘s Oct. 1 show was rescheduled due to a broken-down tour bus stranded in Kentucky (meanwhile, opening act Here We Go Magic played a free show in Asheville for fans). Now tragedy strikes again: Bird has bronchitis and has had to cancel his rescheduled Orange Peel show set for Sunday Oct. 21.

Sigh.

From the Peel:

Please note this show has been CANCELLED.

Due to an illness, the Asheville show (Sunday Oct 21) has been cancelled. Refunds are available at point of purchase. If patrons purchased with cash at the Orange Peel box office, they should bring their physical tickets here and we will refund them. If they purchased by credit card, their ticket will be automatically refunded – if they have questions about a by-phone or web order, they can contact etix at 1 800 514-3849. If they have a question for us, the box office # is 828-225-5851.

From Andrew Bird himself in an email statement:

Asheville friends, we are so sorry about this news but we have to cancel tonight’s show due to circumstances beyond our control – the tour bus broke down in Kentucky, alas, and there’s no way to get to tonight’s show by tonight. We hope you can come to the rescheduled show on Oct 21.

Also, the scheduled support band for tonight’s show, Here We Go Magic, will be performing tonight at Pulp at 9:00 PM. This will be a free 21+ show.

From the Peel:

SHOW POSTPONED ~ Andrew Bird at The Orange Peel is being rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 21st. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. HOWEVER, the opening band Here We Go Magic will be performing tonight at our bar downstairs PULP at 9:00 PM. This will be a FREE ages 21+ show! SPREAD THE WORD!

The Peel says, “Spread the word!”
