Last July, I wrote about the rumor that the Grove Park Inn Sp & Resort was eyeing the BB&T building in downtown Asheville. Word on the street was that the Grove Park Inn, which would like a downtown presence, would buy the building and turn it into a hotel or condos or some mix of the two. Ron Morin, the Grove Park Inn’s vice president, wrote to say that “a project like this seems wishful at best.” Despite that, the rumor persists.

That garage would have to be torn down and rebuilt, adding much needed floors and additional parking spaces.

    Parking?

There is a garage that is currently for that building, but it does not have nearly enough spaces for the hotel guests, the staff etc. …. and it is also currently open to the public as well …. so if it were to go private then there would be less spaces available right in the heart of town.
