This is important information for high school kids looking to ace that ever-important SAT:

ASHEVILLE STUDENTS GET PRACTICE RUN ON THE SAT

FROM KAPLAN TEST PREP

Asheville, NC, September 4, 2009 – To give students a leg up in today’s highly competitive college admissions market, A.C. Reynolds Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is teaming up with Kaplan Test Prep, the world leader in test preparation and admissions services, to offer an SAT Practice Test for Asheville area high school students.

Students will have the opportunity to sample the test and gauge their strengths and weaknesses on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at A. C. Reynolds High School, off of US 74A.  The practice test is free from Kaplan, and a $10 donation collected at the door will support the A. C. Reynolds PTSO, the sponsor for this event.

In addition to taking a practice test under timed conditions that simulate the actual SAT administration, students will receive detailed feedback on their performance, including an analysis of their strengths and weaknesses, helping them to adjust their preparation accordingly.

“With college applications at record levels, standardized test scores are more important than ever,” said Kevin B. Smith, Director, Greenville SC Kaplan Test Prep Center. “Kaplan aims to boost students’ confidence on the SAT by giving them a practice run on the test and helping them target their preparation for the real thing.”

Pre-registration for Kaplan’s practice tests is recommended, since seating is limited. Registration forms will be available to fill out and return in high schools through Tuesday, September 15.  Students can register online at www.kaptest.com/practicetest, or by calling 1-800-KAP-TEST and speaking to an advisor.
