Just because HB’s couldnt afford to keep its doors open and had to sell shouldnt be held against the new restaurant. Maybe yall should have eaten there a little more often if you’re really this heartbroken.
As someone who lived in Austin and ate at the original Curras often, I was thrilled to find that one of the owners opened up this incarnation here. Excellent margaritas, queso flameado, and flan. Not always the easiest to find since leaving Texas. Love it and will go back often. Looking forward to the outdoor space they are planning.
First, most of the Bantam Chefs in the area, now HB’s. Where, indeed? It’s still worth the occasional drive to the Bantam Chef in Burnsville to get a fix. Foot long chili cheese dog, onion rings, peanut butter milkshake. That’s the classic "heart attack in a sack" the way it _should_ be done.
I’ll not eat there. Replacing HB’s can’t be done. I ate at HB’s regularly for about 40 years. BEST foot-long hot dogs in town. A true piece of Americana destroyed! NOW, where can you get a good hot dog in Woodfin?
Thanks for posting this, Ash. And I remember what was in the quesadilla…it was some sort of truffle and, I believe, mushroom. Very nice.
