“Our students work very hard and have achieved great success, often playing instruments which where purchased by the school in the 1980’s. We are thrilled just thinking what they will accomplish once we are able to provide instruments in peak condition,” says Band Director and Asheville City Schools 2014 Teacher of the Year, William Talley.

Two new scholarships have been established to support the college goals of hard working senior band members. Proceeds from this year’s Band-Aid Run will go toward the William Talley Jr. Scholarship and the Aimee Wallis Buchanan Memorial Scholarship funds. The Memorial scholarship honors the life of a very supportive and well-loved band parent who very unexpectedly died in February of 2013.

Special race features include: a new course through the safe and scenic AB Tech Campus – beginning and ending at Asheville High School, a 1-Mile Fun around the AHS track for athletes 12 years and under, a Kid’s Zone on the football field, specially designed long-sleeve race t-shirts, awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each age group, packet pick-up and spaghetti dinner on February 28th from 5-8pm in the AHS Cafeteria.

  1. They should sell their old instruments. I know tons of people who would buy them.
