Earthquakes are nothing new in Western North Carolina – most folks know we sit on a major fault line named after Brevard.  Ashvegas reported just a few months ago that a quake was felt out in Jackson County. The-sky-is-falling folks have long warned that a mountain earthquake could crack open landfills, allowing toxins to leak into groundwater.
