More of what’s going around:

-Frostbite ice cream shop on Patton Avenue in West Asheville is planning on opening a second location at 853 Merrimon Ave. later this year.

-Hydrate Asheville is planning to open a hydration therapy clinic at 1378 Hendersonville Road, the shopping center that’s home to the Fresh Market there.

-The nonprofit Open Hearts has a new home. The organization will be moving to the South slope at 217 Coxe Ave. next to new home of the Asheville Area Arts Council. Here’s more from a press release:

“It’s a monumental step forward in being more integrated with the patrons of downtown by having a studio and gallery in the bustling South Slope, which continues to grow,” noted Open Hearts Director of Human Resources, Sonia Pitts. Open Hearts is striving “to be more inclusive in the community, and with this change we foresee more opportunities to collaborate and interact with our local community and visitors,” added Debbie Harris, Director of Arts and Events.

Not only does the facility on Coxe Ave. provide for more inclusion with the community, it also offers a larger space with more bathrooms, a large front gallery, and ample street parking. “The new space features several rooms with closed doors that we plan on as small studios for our artists that prefer a quieter setting, and we will still have a big performance area in the back.” commented Open Hearts Director of Finances, Jessie Francis. “The new space will offer more individualized care for consumers who are aging, have increased medical requirements, or have specific sensory needs,” Sonia Pitts explained.

-It looks like the old Ron’s Pool Hall on Patton Avenue near the Malvern Hills community is morphing into a restaurant called The Malvern. Construction permits show there’s work to install bathrooms and a kitchen with a hood system and

-Well Played, Asheville’s board game cafe, will hold its grand opening on March 25. The space was designed by Karie Reinertson of Shelter Collective, with murals painted by artist Laura Nguyen of Stone Cloud Studio.
