Asheville City Councilman Gordon Smith tells me via Twitter that the old parking deck on Haywood Street in downtown Asheville – the one across the street from Pack Memorial Library – has been deemed unsafe and is slated to be torn down. The city owns the property, an area that has been a the subject of much discussion in past years as the possible location of a new development. I’m in search of more detail.

Interesting. Well that's one way to get it developed. Tear it down and make it an ugly hole. Then the hippies will complain it's an eyesore and want something in its place.
