kingsport_oktoberfest_2013Here’s the note I received recently regarding this weekend’s Oktoberfest party in Kingsport. It’s from loyal reader Stephanie, who lives in Asheville and founded the event with her husband. It includes everything from food, music and beer to its own Idiotarod race, is set for Saturday. (BTW, Idiotarod race teams can still sign up.) I’ll be on hand to help with beer drinking (and judging). Go to www.kingsportoktoberfest.com to read all the essential details. Check it.

Here’s Stephanie:

Jason –
My husband and I live in Asheville and own Tennessee’s Oktoberfest – happening in Kingsport September 28th. I am writing to see if there’s a way we can work with you for promotion of the event.

The event is about an hour away from Asheville, but we have a lot of Asheville components to it – several brewers – Wicked Weed, Highland, Hiwire, the Mountain Top Polka Band and Stiltwalkers, and several artists and food vendors. Brews Cruise is actually running a bus service from Asheville to the festival. It is listed as a “Top 50” festival from Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine. We also have the Race of Awesome crew from Asheville this year coordinating the Tennessee Idiotarod.

We are on the cover of Asheville on Tap magazine this month.

In addition to all of this – the festival has been selected by Game Show Network to be featured in an upcoming episode of a new series. Ben Bailey, host of Cash Cab, will be on site the day of the festival with a 30 person crew filming for the 30-minute show.

Thank you, Stephanie!
