Occupy Asheville protest Nov. 2 on Pack Square

Two dozen protesters were arrested Wednesday night for breaking a 10 p.m. curfew on Pack Square in downtown Asheville. This was the scene about 8 p.m. Note: the woman in the photo above was not among those arrested.

From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

The group organized a march and a vigil Wednesday evening in response to Occupy Oakland’s call for a general strike and national day of action.

The march departed from underneath the Lexington Avenue bridge around 6 p.m. Police said the 75-100 protestors marched in the streets instead of using the sidewalks, walking up Patton Avenue toward the Vance Monument. The march snarled traffic and forced police to block off intersections to protect the participants from oncoming vehicles.

Scott Olsen is an Iraq War veteran and Occupy activist who suffered a head injury from police in protests there.
