No Evil Foods is a great young company in Asheville. Check out their latest:
This week, Asheville’s own No Evil Foods, makers of organic and non-GMO plant meats joined more than 20 nationally-recognized brands in support of the recent Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee’s report that recommends people eat less meat in exchange for a more plant-based diet.
“We’re extremely excited and inspired to be a part of this coalition,” says No Evil Foods co-founder Mike Woliansky. “We’re helping to give a voice to millions of people who realize that we must reduce our consumption of animal protein, for personal health and for the health of our environment.” Every sector of the food industry– most of them unhealthy–has something to say about how Americans should eat. But we rarely hear the voices of healthier food companies in shaping the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. No Evil Foods has joined this new coalition of plant food companies to help fill that void.
Michele Simon, president of Eat Drink Politics and organizer of the coalition, state that the group — which includes such nationally recognized brands as The Tofurkey Company, Sweet Earth Natural Foods and Daiya Foods — “represents to me a maturing process of this industry. That indicates to me that they are no longer on the fringes. They want a seat at the table.” Read the full letter here and short blog post outlining the basic points of the letter here.
