From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

Frederick Norman Slosman, 71, a lifelong Asheville resident, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones June 25, 2011, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born December 27, 1939, the son of the late Samuel and Nettie Slosman, he had a deep love for his native Western North Carolina mountains. He was the youngest of three siblings who were his late sister, Bryna Liebowitz, and brother, the late Benson Slosman.

Slosman dedicated his life to growing The Slosman Corporation, a local textile company founded by his grandfather, Barnet, over 100 years ago. He began as a territory salesman at The Slosman Corporation working while he completed his last two years at NC State, where he received a bachelor’s degree in textiles in 1961. He became chairman and CEO in the late 80’s. Slosman loved family and his Jewish Heritage. He spent much of his life involved in the Asheville community. He served as Past President of Beth Israel Synagogue and the Jewish Community Center, was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu from N.C. State for fifty years, was a 32nd degree Mason, served on the boards of First Commercial Bank and the March of Dimes, was a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs, and was a contributor to the Asheville Humane Society among other organizations.
