News obit: Bob Ingle, founder of Ingles Markets

Robert “Bob” Ingle, founder of Ingles Markets, died this morning, according to Gus Morris, owner of Morris Funeral Home & Cremation Service. He was 77.

Ingle, a third generation grocer, opened his first Ingles in 1963 on Hendersonville Road. Now, Ingles is a major Western North Carolina employer and boasts more than 200 locations in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.
