Sensational murder case
Attorneys argued over whether the murder trial for Gail Gash should be moved out of Henderson County because pre-trial publicity has made a fair trial there impossible.
Sheraldo brought us the tale. Back in 2004, the body of a former fire department chief, Don Gash, was found chopped up and strewn about his property and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The story has been super hot in Henderson County, especially when a candidate for district attorney brought it up earlier this year and said it was botched. A lot of people thought the dead guy’s son should have been charged in the case, but he never was. Gail Gash disappeared after the body was found, and cops found her hiding out under a shed with a jar of marinara. The cops did charge her.
In court arguments, attorney Jim Siemens said that unprofessional police work resulted in a media saturation he’s not seen in other cases.
Judge Marlene Hyatt will make a decision about the change of venue sometime next week. This is gonna be one juicy case when it finally gets to trial.
Sex with a murderer
A former prison official at Craggy Prison was convicted of seven counts of having sex with a convicted murderer. Edith Pope, a mother of three, will be sentenced in coming weeks. One weird detail – the inmate Pope had sex with didn’t have any fingers or toes.
Weaverville development
People in north Weaverville are pissed off about a proposed development in Brittain Cove. The development plans were submitted right before new rules kicked in that will make it much harder to develop on steep slopes in Buncombe County. But folks, that’s what you get when you don’t have zoning out in the county. So quit whining and deal with it. It will be sad – the area is absolutely beautiful.
actually, no, trots.
Actually, your pandering of this story is as bad as anything WLOS contrives.
