Press release here:

Asheville’s hit radio station Star 104.3, WQNQ, launched a brand new live and local morning show on Tuesday morning at six a.m.

Asheville listeners will be familiar with Josh Michael, who has been hosting afternoon drive on Star for over five years. His new co-host is Sue Myers, who listeners may also recognize from Greenville station MY102.5 where she was previously co-host of their morning show.

Said Josh Michael, who also serves as program director for Star 104.3, “I have been working in radio in Asheville for over ten years. I started in promotions and have advanced through the different layers of programming. I’ve never been as excited about what I am doing and the future of the radio station as I am now with the addition of Sue Myers to our staff in the mornings. Asheville has been craving a true hits radio station that offers local information and local talent and Clear Channel Asheville has delivered.”

With the addition of the new morning show, Star has also shifted the daily line-up. Moving from mid-days to afternoon drive time is one of the country’s most popular radio programs, “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.”

WQNQ is Asheville’s only contemporary hits radio station. The station first went on the air in 2005 and has consistently been a ratings leader in the desirable demo of adults 18-49. For more information please contact Josh Michael at 828-257-2700 or [email protected].

It should be noted that Sue Myers came over from Mix 96.5, WOXL, where she hosted middays. Funny how the Clear Channel press release glossed over that! Also, while the morning show may be local, it appears the rest of the daytime lineup consists of out of market talent who voice track their shifts. Way to keep it local, CC!
