In the wake of ongoing controversies involving the Asheville Police Department, a new blog has popped up to track the action. It’s called apdaccountability

The Police Department’s police chief, Bill Hogan, recently announced his retirement amid concern about missing property room evidence that has compromised at least one court case, and may compromise others. The most recent egregious misstep posted on the blog repeats Asheville Citizen-Times reporting of a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department wrongful action.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged a Hispanic man with driving while impaired and hauling a bunch of cocaine, but it turned out that the driver wasn’t impaired, and the suspected cocaine turned out to be tortilla dough.
