Wow. This is awesome:

What: Twisted Road: Neil Young solo

When: Sunday, May 30, 8 p.m.

Where: Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium

AC Entertainment is proud to announce that rock icon Neil Young will perform his first Southeast concerts in nearly a decade on the Twisted Road tour, scheduled for late May and early June. As an even rarer treat for fans, Young will play solo acoustic in several of the region’s classic theaters, offering those fortunate enough to be in attendance a program of his classic songs along with the special privilege of hearing new songs for the first time. British folk legend Bert Jansch will open the shows.

Young performs at the Louisville’s Palace Theatre on May 26, Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on May 29, the Spartanburg (S.C.) Memorial Auditorium on May 30, and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on June 1.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster outlets. Complete information about the Twisted Road tour’s southern dates is available at concertwire.com

First Rate acts never come to Asheville, usually they come here way after their prime.

I had the pleasure of seeing CSNY several years ago and Neil Young stole the show, awesome performer.

It’s a 3,200 seat auditorium…not exactly intimate. Ticket prices could definitely be lower. For example, Styx is playing the same venue in April and ticket prices range from $22-52. Obviously, there’s no comparing Styx to Neil Young, but these prices are unheard of for the SMA. I would expect to pay $230 to see Neil at the Peace Center, but not in Sparkle City.

I love Neil Young, but the kicker is Bert Jansch from Pentangle, one of the best acoustic guitar players ever. Those are mighty expensive tickets though…

Those ticket prices are pretty outrageous, but this is a pretty tiny venue and those prices are pretty close to what other major acts are charging. Last time I saw Neil Young it was with about 75,000 other people at Bonnaroo. It will be nice to see him again in a more intimate setting.

I am really surprised this show went to S-Burg and not Greenville or Asheville. Typically your more "first rate" events like this will go to Greenville or Asheville.

Wow, $78 for a nose-bleed seat? So much for letting the working class people he sings about see him live…
