Here’s the full post from Namaste Yoga. I first heard this on Twitter here.

Hi folks.
A wise business person much more experienced than me once told me that the most important decision a business owner will ever make is knowing when it’s time to close the doors. Namaste has indeed been a sanctuary of devotional practice for 6 years, a vortex of spiritual depth and teachings in Asheville. As such, the closing of Namaste is indeed a loss to the Asheville community.

The last day of classes will be Monday, August 10th as scheduled.

Our regularly scheduled Tuesday evening chanting and kirtan with Sangita Devi and Friends will be held Tuesday, August 11th from 730-9pm, and will be a final closing ceremony. Please come to sit and chant with us one last time in this sacred space. As well, I will be having one last yoga class on Friday the 14th at 545-715pm followed by a 15 minute meditation, free of charge.

Here is some information about where to find some of the wonderful teachers who have made Namaste such a great yoga home.

This is a loss, for sure.

On a separate note, it’s sad to hear that a couple of local Landlords are turning a blind eye to the difficulties downtown businesses are facing in Asheville. The streets are mostly empty other than vagrants and homeless folks. It’s certainly not looking like a high-rent district, so why torture our local stores and businesses?

Between the economy and having the worst retail economy in 50 years, then the rockslide knocking out a third of tourism, to the snow/weather. Greedy Landlords need to get with the time before they end up with another empty spaces, which is what seems to be popping up all over the downtown.

Come-on, Asheville. We all need to pull together, and that means Landlords, too.
