I’ve been hearing about several serious crashes on mountain bike trails around Asheville over the past couple of weeks. The Bent Creek trails are often the site of riders falling and breaking bones, and this year is no different.

I also heard about a crazy wreck where a rider went over and disturbed a hornets nest. Both the rider and the person trying to help suffered numerous stings while trying to get the heck out.

Heard any stories about recent mountain bike trail disasters?

That's why I just ride on the roads with my bike. You know, where it is safe.

The rider died in the yellow jacket wreck incident. Cause of death was believed to be a neck injury. He was probably stung enough times to kill him even if he wasn't allergic.
