Morgan Freeman was spotted recently in Sylva. There are no details on why Freeman, who was in eastern Tennessee before his Sylva stop, was in the area.

Clingman Cafe has a new name. The coffee shop on Clingman Avenue in the River Arts District is now officially Ultra Coffee.

Asheville Outlets will team up with Ingles to host the Ultimate Air Dogs three day competition at Asheville Outlets this weekend. The event is the last-chance regional qualifier for Ultimate Air Games. The dogs will compete: Friday, Oct. 7th at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Le Creuset will open one of its newest outlet stores at Asheville Outlets. The grand opening will be celebrated on Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony, grand opening specials and a cooking demonstration by Chef Jeff Matevie of Hickory Tavern from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

-The Chai Pani restaurant team’s first culinary documentary, Cutting Chai, is set to screen in Asheville on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at The Grail Moviehouse.

Sean Haugh, Lon Cecil, and William Meredith, the Libertarian Party candidates for US Senate, North Carolina governor, and North Carolina Senate 49, are holding a campaign rally at Upcountry Brewing at 5 pm on Saturday Oct. 8, according to a press release. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Earth Fare grocery store opened a new grocery store last week in Seminole, Fla. It is the fourth Florida location for the chain, and the 38th nationwide. Highlights from the grand opening, as well as a preview of the store, can be viewed here.

-The old Blue Ridge Motor Lodge on Tunnel Road has been remodeled and rebranded as The Beaucatcher hotel. Rooms that were once $69 a night are now $209 a night, reports loyal reader Brian.

George C. Jones Jr., who was hired a year ago as the director of the Asheville nonprofit Green Opportunities, has left the job. Student Development Director Joseph Hackett has assumed the role of interim executive director.

    $209 not downtown and not at Biltmore and the non-investing hotel kibitzers think we have too much supply.
