Is it just us, or does there seem to be a ton of news suddenly flowing out of Rutherford County? Hmmm. We’re not sure, but we’ll try to keep a closer eye on it. Anyway, here goes:

Madison machinations
Holly Headache and went out to Madison County, The Land that Time Forgot, to tell us about some shenanigans at a Monday night commissioners’ meeting.

At the meeting, the board voted 3-2 not to renew the contract of the county manager, Ricky McDevitt. When that happened, the county attorney, Larry Leake, also quit. And after the volatile meeting, a woman named Cindie Harmon who runs a web site called Spring Creek something said she was tripped and punched because she posts controversial stuff. Anybody seen this web site? We searched a little and couldn’t find it.

Hit and run suspect
Police say they now have a suspect and arrest warrants for somebody wanted in the Oct. 21 hit-and-run that killed a young woman on Merrimon Avenue out in Woodfin near the HB’s Drive-In.

Funeral for sisters
Family and friends turned out for the Tuesday funeral for three sisters who died after being found in a hot car in Rutherford County last week. Police think the 2-year-old twins and 4-year-old sister died from the heat.

Friends told Jeremy Butterfield that they still can’t believe the young girls are gone. And a DSS worker said this kind of thing can be prevented if people will call and report incidents where children are playing unattended in hot cars. The DSS worker said call us, rat out your neighbor and we’ll respond.

There are still no charges in this case. Police say they’re still investigating.

Fibro-my-lazy a real disease
Jay Seltzerwater says fibro-my-lazy is actually fibromyalgia and it’s apparently a real disease. Medical professionals say the disease is under-reported and under-diagnosed. A woman that Jay interviewed who said she has fibromyalgia said therapy at the Haywood Regional Medical Center was great. “I didn’t know I was supposed to stretch,” she said. Doctors told her to eat better, too, and that’s working, she said. Wow.

Breaking news
People gain weight during the holidays. WLOSers say there’s a state web site where you can sign up and try not to gain weight over the holidays. “Maintain don’t gain” is the slogan.

Shuler goes to Washington
WLOSers said congressman-elect Heath Shuler’s in Washington this week for orientation. They had video showing him with that cheesy grin on the steps of the Capitol building for a photo. Friday, there will be a lottery to see who gets the best offices.

In other news…
High school students Tuesday sat with people they didn’t know. That’s a big deal in high school, where you have cliques and stuff. The Southern Poverty Law Center encouraged the action to help students break down barriers… The Amber Alert system works, according to Michelle Boudin, who followed up on an Amber Alert issued recently for a Rutherford County child that was discovered… Target and Eblen Charities gave a bunch of school supplies to Buncombe County schools… Pat Simon says small businesses are still having a hard time paying for health care. State lawmakers are looking for ways to help… Prizes were handed out for the best gingerbread houses at the Grove Park Inn… Tickets are sold out for the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam… In an ad playing on WLOS, they say ABC will pay you $100 to switch to DirectTV. That’s because WLOS owner Sinclair is in a legal battle with a cable company that may not carry the channel at the end of the month…. A wreck on Dellwood Road in Haywood County killed on person… A second person died following the Monday wreck in Rutherford County that left one personn dead at the scene… There were some big agenda items at Ashvegas City Council Tuesday night, according to Cherub Charu. They were talking about downtown parking, development of The Block and sidewalks… The state Clean Water Fund purchased 87 acres along the Rocky Broad River to protect the land. They also bought some 400 acres in Mills River in Henderson County to protect that land… And Sheraldo says Henderson County schools are considering banning overnight field trips for students in K through 7th grade.

There’s new news about Cindie Harman. Looks like a dirty cop from Asheville by the name of Scott Gaddy who was a cop in Madison County was caught driving drunk with guns in Cindie Harman’s car. Cindie Harman says he has been on her payroll for some time because he provides her with security and house sitting. Cindie has been writing accusations of infidelity and lies on her site about the Madison County Sheriff, John Ledford, who will soon be appointed to a very high position with the State. Harman claims she was in Barbados for Valentines Day and that she did not give Gaddy permission to drive her car. This is the second time he has been whacked for DUI while serving as a cop.

I just wish she would check her facts. She posted a quote from BHO today that was a well-known fraud. We will be glad when she is finally no longer a voter in this county.

Here’s a new one Cindie Harman has changed up her web-site (probaly because she is fixing to get sued for hate speech) to bonifide.us. Has anyone told her she is mispelling bonifide? It is bonafide the last time I checked with a dictionary. LOL. Visit bonifide.us for a real laugh while a mispelled worm (bonifide) wriggles all around the page. It makes no sense to me and my buddies. We think she drunk too much corn liquor up there on the creek and on my dial up I can’t even see the video.

I don’t worry about what Cindie Harman says. Her site is now defunct without any posting for many days. What she does put up on there is only information she copies from a few who want to avoid her poison pen. It looks like she has given up so I guess the truth prevails.

Cindie Harman is accusing Jonathan Austin editor of the News Record and Sentinel of plagiarism and stating he is going to get fired. Get fired? Why would they fire anybody from that job? Who wants to work in Marshall and have to put up with the likes of that crazy woman? How is it her scoop when it is public information? The only thing she scoops is cat litter.

The one thing I notice about Cindie Harman is she frequently uses the wrong words. Case in point, on her homepage it has the word "debactle" and I assume she means debacle. She also calls someone a gadfly as if it is a derogatory term. Interesting because here is the definition of gadfly. "Gadfly" is a term for people who upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or attempt to stimulate innovation by proving an irritant.

Cindie tries to appear to be a gadfly herself, but there is nothing novel (new) or innovative about her tactics. She has used them before. Also, she firmly supports the status quo and calls all innovative thinkers and agents for change terms like "Reprano" (republican Soprano??) and thug and run roughshot over this county for too long. When you look at her targets it is mostly those who oppose those in power. She only wishes she was a gadfly.

I remember the old site Madison Speaks! That was a VERY funny website. Too bad that old Harman prude had to ruin all of the fun. Her site certainly lacks the humor of the other one. She is complaining now about the group hired by the county to build the new jail in Madison County. She is blaming it on two commissioners she is at odds with because they "met" with the group and because they made the motion and second for the group. Where were her friends the other commissioners???? It was a unanimous vote in favor of going with the group. Are the others not to blame because they are too dumb to do their own homework? Or is it business as usual in Madison and if it’s grant money they act like it is just a jackpot from Harrahs. I regret the day I bought property here in Madison County. The whole board of commissioner is a joke and the biggest fool is that broad on spring creek, Cindie Harman. She complains about things people are doing but she doesn’t offer any solutions. If you want to see what your brain on drugs look like, don’t fry an egg– go to http://www.springcreeknc.com and then take an advil because your head is going to hurt.

I heard about this wannabe Cindie Harman and I can’t believe she is appealing anything to get a right to harrass a woman and her child. Does she not have anything better to do than harrass people?

Cindie Harman is only interested in her own first amendment rights not anyone elses. Last I heard her site was barely on life support because everyone in the county avoids her. The BE Ventures people who were fighting Laurel Valley Watch got what they wanted so tey dont need her any more. So she has started in on Larry Leake who is an attorney here in Asheville with Madison County roots. She is just trying to get attention and she likes to make treats to people who she views as either having money or power. Madison County is probably not the smartest place to pick those kind of fights! She is a tar baby, so just ignore her if she comes youre way or you’ll end up stuck with tar! She is as stubborn as her comments are dumb so if you stick her in with that bunch of Deliverance extras in Madison County you get some hard core comedy which would be funny if not so sad.

I found your blog and think it is great. Cindie Harman is a trouble maker with a big mouth. Several people who have been victimized by her slander and lies on the web have formed a site at http://www.madisonspeaks.com and it is a hilarious spoof site. You’ll enjoy it if only for a laugh. Cindie Harman is indeed a freak and I don’t mean that in a good way.

Oh, and be sure to turn down the volume on your speakers if you go to Cindy Harmon’s site. Last time I was brave enough to venture over there, she had one of those stupid computer generated "news anchors" reading the headlines off the page. Seems like I remember some stories of her being some sort of troublemaker down in Polk County a few years back, but I can’t remember, for sure. I may have her confused with Jean Marlowe, the (alleged, I guess) pot lady.

Yes, fibromyalgia is, indeed, very real and very nasty. Judging by the "fibro-my-lazy" jab, there’s obviously a lot of ignorance out there to overcome, but maybe reports like Jay’s can help.

I’ve known people who suffer (and I choose that word carefully) from fibromyalgia. Another blog I read (Perfection on a Curve) is run by someone with this disease and she posts pretty graphic details about the symptoms. It’s very real and very nasty.

I’ve noticed the Rutherford County stuff, too, but I think it’s always been this way. Many shootings, domestic problems, and other crimes seem to happen there. Not being judgemental, just sayin’.
