The Asheville Downtown Association today announced that it has hired Joe Minicozzi as interim executive director for the organization.
“Joe brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization as an urban planner, Harvard graduate and through his community involvement. The ADA is making a real commitment to downtown with this appointment as we move closer to achieving the goals and initiatives outlined in the Asheville Downtown Master Plan,” said ADA Board Chair Byron Greiner.
In this role, Minicozzi will be responsible for overall operations of the organization, serve as ambassador for both downtown businesses and residents, and pursue opportunities to further the ADA’s mission to be the voice of the downtown community. Also, he will act as liaison between the ADA membership and community, government and other groups.
With extensive experience in urban planning and design as well as project management, Minicozzi will lead the association’s efforts to develop a more sustainable downtown management system and work towards making downtown cleaner and greener.
“Community involvement is pretty much my hobby and community design is my passion and profession making heading up the ADA a great fit,” Minicozzi said.
Minicozzi married his best friend Caroline and together they enjoy motorcycling, biking, gardening and hiking with their dogs Bill and Suzi.
The Asheville Downtown Association is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and improvement of the central business district.
