What was up with all the dead air on WLOS Channel 13 this evening?

We did indeed have a power hit. Our backup power sources did not fire up like they usually do. Everything went down in production control, master control, and in the studio. I’ve never seen anything of the sorts in my 6 years at the station. It was very strange to be sitting there doing the broadcast and then have everything lose power. It certainly made for an interesting rest of the day.

As I was watching the news at 6 last night and they went to a Pat McCrory commercial the sound went out and I could hear some lady saying "where are we" or something of that nature. It seems that WLOS has pumped a bunch of money into their new fancy HD set, but they still don’t have a competent staff to run things. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig!

I noticed that during some of the commercial breaks, while the commercials were playing, they were broadcasting audio of the reporters in the studio. Oops!
