Asheville gay rights/advocacy group Just Us for All plans a Wednesday, Aug. 1 sit-in at Chick-fil-A from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The family that owns Chick-fil-A has given millions of dollars over the years to organizations fighting same-sex marriage.

The event page doesn’t say which Asheville location (there are three in Asheville, according to the Chick-fil-A website) is involved, but the South Tunnel location across from the Asheville Mall is likely the one.

From the Facebook event page for the protest:

Alright y’all. Just Us For All is planning to have a sit in at Chick-Fil-A due to all of their recent queer-phobia and blatant dishonesty around it. Not to mention chain corporations suck but being unapologetically queer-phobic is too much. The time and date for the event on here are not final. We will finalize plans for this event at our meeting this Sunday. For meeting time and info please visit: www.justusforall.org

Our intentions in this sit in will not be violent. It will be done to gain visibility as well as educate folks. We hope other queer folks and allies in other cities will do the same as us.
