The Local Barber & Tap Joins Classic Barbershop with Beer City Style
Local Barber & Tap is an independently owned, walk-in barbershop at 84 W. Walnut St. in the center of downtown Asheville. Customers can enjoy a local craft beer while getting haircut, beard trim, or hot towel straight razor shave in a casual, neighborly atmosphere.
Old School Grooming
Owner and barber Jordan Stolte opened The Local Barber & Tap to fill the need for a less-expensive alternative to a traditional salon. It was important to Jordan to create an environment that brings people in the community together — where customers can walk-in, get their haircut, socialize with their friends, hear about the latest community news, and enjoy a local beer. With several beers on draft in their taproom and plenty of space for people to relax; “the shop is a place for quality haircuts and also one that encourages a conversation beyond just the service of the cut.” he says.
Stolte has a big appreciation for the legacy of the barbering trade as well as the nostalgia of the traditional barber shop. The shop staffs only licensed barbers and uses four authentic barber chairs from the 1950’s. Jordan is joined by two more barbers, Jonathon Katzmarek and Cameron Melton. The Local Barber & Tap is family friendly with all the barbers trained in men’s and boy’s hairstyles from longer cuts to more of a high taper fade. Services are priced to be affordable for the business class, working class, and the student.
Beer City Style
In the back of the shop stands a cozy pub highlighted by a custom wood bar, pub games, flat screen and featuring a special selection of local brews.
“When deciding on this space for the barbershop I knew it would be the perfect spot to build a bar for customers to enjoy the great local beer Asheville has become known for.” Stolte says, “It’s a pretty simple formula. Get a beer with your haircut. Asheville deserves that.”
When you enter The Local Barber & Tap you may find strangers conversing like old friends, fathers enjoying down time while their son’s get a trim, or patrons on their laptops enjoying the pub room. All of it adds up to creating a unique and fresh barbershop experience.
Come See for Yourself
The Local Barber & Tap has it’s official Grand Opening event Saturday, January 30th from 3pm-8pm at 84 Walnut St. in downtown Asheville. Best cut I’ve ever had.
Old fashioned barbershops had a price list posted. Where’s the price list?
i am enjoying my recent hair cut from them at this very moment!
I have been going to Jordan for almost a year (+4 other guys at our office). Great group of Barbers with a focus on customer service. They also do a good job of having good local beer on tap.
This place is amazing! Great cuts and awesome beers!
This seems very cool to me.
