Halloween in the ‘hood has ended, right on time at about 8:30. There might be a few stragglers, but the parade has pretty much ended.

Seemed as if every little girl was a princess or fairy. I saw lots of hockey-masked boys. A litte Darth Vader. And even littler Batman and Robin – Batman rang the doorbell then ran down the steps to be next to Robin.

I had a good set up, with red lights, the jack-o-lantern above and another good one. Some frightful music to really set the mood. Some of that fake spider web stuff around the door frame. The kids loved it. I received several comments, including a flattering comment from an older kid who then promptly said, “Can I have some candy for the nice compliment?” He held out his hands, and I obliged.

Amazing how you always get one or two kids carrying two bags, giving you the line that they’re collecting for brother or sister “who’s home sick” or something.

One little diva just stood at the door and preened as her mother held her bag, had it filled, then carried it off. What a little Miss Thang.

Nicest are the moms who drive up in the mommie van, let out little Joey, stand at the curb with arms crossed, then say “And what do you say?” as Joey runs off with sweets. Then she hollars a hearty thanks, too, and they’re off.
