We share this press release, as is. This construction is really getting on our nerves:

Greetings from Pack Square Conservancy!

A few changes are coming up during the next week or so.

On Monday, September 17, the City will open the street along north Pack Square at 9 a.m. Access to that street will be at the east entry only, and traffic will circle around to the west to the intersection with Broadway. Traffic turning onto Broadway will be right turn only. Traffic along south Pack Square will still be eastbound only. Please watch for signs.

The curbing along Market Street is being installed. Several gaps are being left for truck traffic. Market Street will be patched and opened in the near future. The final milling and paving of Market Street will be carried out at the end of the project.

There will be a temporary asphalt sidewalk along the west side of Market Street near Windows on the Park, and it will extend southward around the curved bank.

Over the next few weeks, you will see an archaeologist carrying out an examination of the mid-park site. This is one of the requirements put in place by the N.C. Department of Transportation and the State Historic Preservation Office.

During October, Progress Energy will move the massive vault that is now in the sidewalk beside College Street. By the first of November, we hope to have the mid-park area fenced and have some attractive banners in place. Construction on the pavilion will begin in November.

Thanks and stay tuned.
