This looks great! Here are the details:

“Use everything, waste nothing.” This kitchen philosophy sounds simple, but society has veered away from it, resulting in long-term consequences.

Thursday, October 19, at 6:45 p.m., The Grail Moviehouse presents a special screening of the new Anthony Bourdain documentary Wasted! The Story of Food Waste benefiting Food Connection. Food Connection is a local nonprofit that rescues surplus prepared meals from Asheville restaurants and caterers and delivers the meals to nonprofits who feed the hungry.

Moviegoers will continue the conversation after the screening with a panel discussion. Mackensy Lunsford will facilitate the discussion featuring Flori Pate, founder/director of Food Connection, Chef Katie Button of Cúrate and Nightbell, Danny Keaton, owner of Danny’s Dumpster, and Amber Weaver, Asheville’s chief sustainability officer.

“We’re excited to share ideas and information about reducing food waste in our community,” Button said. “It’s a huge part of what we do at our restaurants, and I’m happy Bourdain is highlighting it through this documentary.”

Learn more about reducing food waste the next day at Asheville’s first Regional Food Waste Summit at Warren Wilson College, a free conference focusing on local sustainability efforts regarding food.

Sponsors of the screening include The Grail Moviehouse, Compost Now, Heirloom Hospitality Group, and Dig Local. Tickets for the event are $20 and available through the Grail Moviehouse’s website or by calling the box office. 100% of ticket proceeds will be donated to Food Connection. Seating is limited.

Is there a place where we can donate directly to Food Connection, to avoid having to spend any time with Anthony Bourdain?
