Gas prices near $3/gallon mark in Asheville

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has risen more than 10 cents in the past week.

Today’s average price in the Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem area is $2.86, up from $2.755 a week ago, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. The average price a month ago was $2.734.

A year ago, the average price was $2.566.

The Triad currently has the lowest average price in North Carolina. The highest is the Asheville area, where the average price is $2.949.
