Press release here:

ASHEVILLE – Life o’ Mike, a new nonprofit health care advocacy and education nonprofit, presents its inaugural fundraiser, Eat at Mike’s, 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Jubilee, 46 Wall St., downtown.

The event is a dinner and auction with food from some of Asheville’s best chefs and home cooks, including food from Mela, Laurey’s Catering, Roots Organics and more. Featured will be one of Mike’s own recipes, pork loin roasted with apple butter and chipotle glaze.

Among the auction items are paintings by Peggy Home Taylor, Jonas Gerard and Alicia Chatham, plus meditation bowls by potter Greg Vinyard, handmade jewelry, a night at the Grove Park Inn, gift certificates from Carmel’s Restaurant, a basket of cookbooks and more.

Tickets to Eat at Mike’s are $25 each and the event is alcohol-free, so it is appropriate for children.

Proceeds will benefit Life o’ Mike’s new Patient Pals and Family Friends program, which pairs volunteers who have had experience with certain illnesses and disabilities with people who are newly diagnosed or disabled.
