Franklin Graham took a break from his appearance at a college graduation here in Western North Carolina today to talk about his reaction to East Waynesville Baptist Church’s pastor kicking Democrats out of the church.

The local TV station had the story on at 11 p.m. Graham basically said that issues such as abortion are neither Republican nor Democrat issues, but moral issues. And according to God, abortion is wrong, Graham said.

Graham said he didn’t understand where pastor Chan Chandler was coming from in his stance.

That was basically it. Graham, the son of the Rev. Billy Graham who lives in Montreat, was speaking at Montreat College’s graduation. Franklin Graham runs the Samaritan’s Purse relief agency, which is based in Boone.
