ASHEVILLE – Excite your senses elegantly at Evergreen Community Charter School’s 8th annual CAFÉ (Caring Artists for Evergreen) fundraiser. This year the event, features the Akira Satake Band, delicious food from local restaurants and a silent and live auction is Friday, March 4, at Pack Tavern’s Century Room at 20 South Spruce St. overlooking downtown Asheville. 

The doors open at 7:30 p.m. with a silent auction containing art crafted by local artisans– jewelry, paintings, photography, pottery/ceramics, glass and furniture as well as rafting trips, spa treatments, sporting equipment, zip line adventures and much more.

The Akira Satake Band, an Asheville-based quartet led by internationally recognized Japanese-born composer, banjoist and shamisen master Akira Satake, will perform at CAFÉ 8.  He is joined by world-renowned percussionist River Guerguerian, the brilliant young jazz and traditional violinist Duncan Wickel and the versatile cellist Julia Weatherford.  Satake and Guerguerian have the added distinction of being fathers of Evergreen students. 

New to CAFÉ this year are a live auction and as well as a special online collection by renowned Asheville artists Akira Satake, Jimmy O’Neal, Jonas Gerard, Christopher Holt, Richard Oversmith, David Earl Tomlinson, Karen Ives, Jeff Kinzel, Shawn Scullin and Nate Green. CAFÉ 8’s online auction will go live on March 1 and run until midnight March 13. Auction items can be viewed and bid on at www.biddingforgood.com/CAFE8.

The price of a ticket is $35 in advance and $38 at the door.  A preview of the event and tickets are available at www.eccscafe.com. Tickets can also be purchased at Evergreen Community Charter School at 50 Bell Road in Haw Creek. Call 298-2173 for more information.
