Discovery of ‘suspicious package’ forces evacuation of Asheville’s federal courthouse

The discovery of a “suspicious package” near Asheville’s federal courthouse triggered a major police response this morning and forced the evacuation of the building, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

Dozens of people milled along the sidewalk of Otis Street and the cops checked out the situation. Part of the street was closed. Police also pulled in their big hazardous materials response truck.
