How should the public space in front of the US Cellular Center and Basilica of St. Lawrence in downtown Asheville be developed and designed?

Last week, a group of 21 Clemson University students offered up their ideas. Check out their renderings.

The students, from the university’s College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, unveiled their concepts at the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design. Architecture Professor Doug Hecker, who lives in Asheville, led the group, who worked on the project in partnership with the Asheville Design Center.

It’s still unclear to me whether Asheville City Council has reached agreement on how the space should be used, but city officials are moving ahead with programming events at the site

Chill out. This is just student work done for their studio. When you’re an architecture student you design ridiculous looking stuff because it’s fun, you can, and you need projects for your portfolio. None of these are actually going to happen.

Could we have some explanation of what these drawings show?
