More of what’s going around, including the return of Chef Steven Goff to Asheville:

-Chef Steven Goff is returning to Asheville some two years after he departed. Goff spent a decade in Asheville perfecting his skills in the kitchen before he left. He was heavily involved in the local community and garnered accolades for his creative cooking. The culmination of all that work led to Goff’s hiring at King James Public House on Charlotte Street. He left after about a year there following disagreements with the ownership group and moved on to the Raleigh area. Now Goff, the owner of Brinehaus Meat + Provisions food truck and catering service, is returning to Asheville. Goff says in a Facebook post that he’ll be working with the Blind Pig Supper Club series and is planning a pop-up cooking series somewhere. Stay tuned for details.

-Monday’s total solar eclipse was a wonderful, beautiful event as thousands of people gathered in groups large and small across Western North Carolina to witness the celestial event. It was just great to see people come together in wonder and awe. Love.

“The Ingles grocery store on Merrimon Avenue is set for a major renovation”

This will trigger full zoning compliance that they have thus far avoided.

In what way are they not in zoning compliance?

In what way do you care so much about what happens to the Merrimon Avenue Ingles store?

Ingle’s #3 is in need of improvements. It is an older store that has pharmacy, delicatessen, and bakery departments along the left side of the store, and the produce on the right side of the store.

Ingle’s Pharmacy #3 could use more space. I hope its expansion does not remove the delicatessen’s corner cafe.
