Florida Calling: Talk about dodgy weather. Hurricanes in the summer and tornadoes in the winter. What the HELL!?
marc
I recall cessarich calling for the same as everyone else and then some. He went for 8 inches of snow in the mountains! How can they lie like that! Do they actually think we don’t know what he really said?
If by smart ass, you mean he’s smarter than you are Asheville Freak, then yes, he is a smart ass.
When the insults start flying, the intelligence starts dropping.
Ron from H’vlle is a smart ass! Go back to the drive through window and get way from the computer. The customers are getting antsy.
i didn’t see that, marc. that’s high-larious!
Did anybody catch WYFF last night? By about 7:00 they were running a promo saying "Cessarich got it right!!!!!" (maybe they used a couple less exclamation points). How bad is the whole "science" of meteorology that you have to run a promo when your guy actually gets it right for a change?
Shot to hell? Man, what’s with the negative waves, dude?
I had a wonderful day, hanging out with my kids, driving all around (shhhht… traffic is very light on days like this one) making fun of dumptrucks with chains.
It was a mother beautiful day, I don’t think I would have canceled a picnic had I scheduled one.
The sun almost even came out for a while.
So, sit back man. Blow up the TV, drink some wine, eat some cheese.
Woof.
Woof.
Bastards.
It’ll be a century before anyone trusts the weatherfolk in this area again. How often can they get it wrong and continue to keep their jobs?
The weather tellers shut down the entire economy of western North Carolina with their apocalyptocasting.
Gee, AF, a day at home doing whatever you want. My heart bleeds for you.
Another day shot to hell thanks to those hacks.
ya- but it so sucks that i stayed home in anticipation of a freekin’ ice storm. even at 1pm WLOS was STILL flashing that bottom feeder that icy rain was on it’s way…………
You know, if you look back to why the Cherokees lived in this valley for over 10k years, the reason John Lanning, David Vance, Daniel Merritt, Joe Rice, and the rest of the Rutherford Trace crew settled here, and the reason we are all here is…
WE HAVE GOOD WEATHER
we are protected by high mountains which tend to break up tropical storms, divert the arctic blasts and buffer us from the baddies of the world.
That has not changed a bit.
If they weren’t wrong nearly EVERY time, it would be easier to take. And look what ensues. School cancelled when it shouldn’t be (I’m not talking about today), long lines at the grocery store, etc. etc. Seriously, they predict much worse than what we actually get nearly EVERY time.
yes to A.
yes to Ron.
yes! to In the Know!
So yeah…WNC got ripped off! As of Wednesday evening, I was pushing hard 3-5 inches of snow with an inch of freezing rain on top of that for Asheville. I wake up this morning with a nice phone call from my family letting me know that it didn’t happen. The morning run of the models removed all mention of snowfall with some freezing rain…this after the models running through last night kept the snow in. Cuevas’ explanation is correct. The system tracking further south than originally forecast resulted in the upstate of SC getting more than WNC. The morning runs of the models took that into account and changed over all the precipitation to mostly liquid and lowered the total amounts as well. Such is forecasting winter weather in Asheville…gotta love it!
If you think it’s so easy, perhaps you should become a meteorologist. Good thing you have Cuevas to blame.
Maybe its from all the people explaining why almost every single weather forcaster was off on this storm.
Yes, Cuevas called it wrong. But so did WYFF, FOX Carolina, the weather channel, NASA, etc etc.
Complain about the stories and stuff all you want. Some of them are lame. But weather?
EVERYONE GUESSES. Thats what weather forcasting is. Get over it.
