Word of an impending winter storm started to spread across Ashvegas on Tuesday night. Rumors were rampant. Somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody at the National Climatic Data Center in Ashvegas were sure that this would be the big storm.

And somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody that was one of UNCA’s horde of weather nuts were all geeking out over the potential storm.

And now Ashvegas can tell you that loyal reader In the Know apparently knows:

As a meteorologist with interests on WNC weather, it looks like this week’s storm might be the one everyone has been waiting on. Latest model runs, of course subject to change based on later model runs, now indicating possibly 3-5 inches of snow before a changeover to freezing rain and sleet. Could be a fun beginning to February for WNC! I miss it!

Be prepared for WLOS to run this story into the ground on Wednesday. The accu-hunch weather center will move into over-drive. They’ll start with a drum roll and build up to full-fledged gloom and doom by the end of the day. Watch for the milk and bread runs starting around noon, along with lines at the gas pumps. Late Wednesday afternoon, we predict that the cancellations will start rolling in. It’s going to be crazytown.

What are you hearing/predicting?

I’ve got a dozen bagels if you need a couple, Jeremias! And lots of peanut butter!

Ugh. That’s what I get for waiting to go to the grocery store until tonight. Note: Some of us who will be there actually have bare cupboards. The others just have that inexplicable craving for French toast that comes with the faintest whisper of snow.
