The buzz keeps building for the music that Moogfest 2010 will bring to Asheville in October. The line-up so far includes Big Boi, Massive Attack, MGMT, Jonsi, Caribou and Thievery Corporation. The three-day event on Halloween weekend promises to take over Asheville, with shows slated for the Orange Peel, the Asheville Civic Center and the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. It’s shaping up to be just as big as the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam, if not bigger, for Asheville.

Festival producers AC Entertainment put off until Aug. 10 the last round of announcements regarding the music acts that will perform at Moogfest. The line-up has lots of folks asking if the event will feature one band that transcends the electronic music scene, one band that everyone recognizes, one band that harkens back to the heyday of the electronic music pioneered by Robert Moog, the man this festival honors.

All that has me wondering – could Devo fill the bill?

On July 23, Devo kicked off a North American tour after releasing their first new album in 20 years in June. Devo performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and at the Coachella music fest in California. They’re set to play at Lollapalooza later this week, too.

Devo would be the perfect pick to top off what is already shaping up to be one heck of a new music festival for Asheville, one that will bring music lovers from all over the world. I can’t wait for the final Moogfest announcement next week.

    Jason:

Your lameness and uselessness continues to manifest. You just put up a post about an 80s band that will NOT be in Asheville!!!!

I will congratulate you on marketing your nothingness to the general Asheville easily-led population, however. They think you are relevant. Ha!!! You must know better.

To quote John Lennon, "How do you sleep?"

Answer: Well, because the clueless AC-T management doesn’t know a lightweight when they see one, and neither does Asheville’s "groovy" population.

I’m not sure if Kraftwerk used Moogs, but wonder if they fit the bill as well?
