There’s been a lot in the news lately about trouble with airlines. Big troubles. So you’ve got to wonder when that’s all going to trickle down to our little Ashvegas airport. I don’t know. But this Charlotte Observer story gets to those questions from their point of view. Food for thought:

It’s a good thing that most airline tickets are now electronic. Otherwise, some people might wonder if they would be worth the paper they’re printed on.

Four airlines have filed for bankruptcy protection in the past month. Last week, American Airlines canceled a few thousand flights, including about 20 departures in Charlotte, because of maintenance issues.

Despite those bankruptcies and cancellations, Charlotte’s airport hasn’t seen major disruptions. Elsewhere in the Carolinas, low-cost carrier Skybus — which stopped flying April 5 and filed for bankruptcy — was building a base in Greensboro and had flights that attracted travelers from the Charlotte area.
