About the Festival

The International Children’s Film Festival (AICFF) runs Nov.2-8, 2009.

Kid-friendly events include a costume pancake breakfast on November 7 at 8 a.m. in the Savoy Restaurant parking lot.  Following breakfast and free entertainment, attendees follow a drummer in a costume parade to Asheville Pizza & Brewing, where a selection of international short films screens at 10 a.m.

2009 festival curator Elizabeth Shepherd, former curator of the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle, said films in this year’s festival will thrill young and adult audiences alike. “The festival is a one-stop destination for the very best in international children’s cinema including eye-popping animation, comedy, fairy tales, edge-of-your-seat adventure, gripping documentaries, and lots of stories sure to make kids stop and think. The Asheville International Children’s Film Festival is a window to the world,” she said.

Admission to most festival programs is $4 for kids, $5 for adults. Visitors must purchase tickets in advance to all screenings at the AICFF website or by phone at 800-838-3006.
