Loyal Ashvegas reader Chris sent this choice photo along recently. It was shot at Reynolds High School. While details are unclear, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office vehicle is most likely that of the school’s resource officer.

Looks like the officer in question got a gob of unwanted saliva somewhere, somehow. I don’t know the details. The officer was clearly ticked, and let his intentions be known.

But is this professional behavior on the part of a law enforcement officer? I think I’ll have to ask Sheriff Van Duncan about this photo the next time I see him. Police officers put up with more crap than any of us would ever dream of putting up with, but it comes with the territory, right?

It’s their job to deal with it, and deal with it in a professional manner. By the same token, we should show our men and women of the badge the respect that comes with the job. After all, we trust these folks to keep us safe and we call upon them when we’re in an emergency.

Thanks for the photo, Chris!

  1. Good for officer. April 29, 2009

Maybe the citizens of Buncombe Co. should spend some time walking in the shoes of a School Resource Officer. They to may have placed a sign up. The news media never reported that this officer stopped a shotting at the school. No thats not news worthy enough. Keep up the great job Officer…

  2. You people need to get a life and quit thinking that LEO’s are perfect. Whoever took this photo unless has a journalism certification, should be expelled from school and perhaps charged for soliciting government property without permission. You idiots of Asheville need to either grow up, wake up, or go to your motherland of wierdism which is called San Fransisco. I am tired of you left winged nuts trashing our city with your homosexulaity and so called "green" ways of life.

Chris you should be arrested and charged!

I’m glad the local CSI team could take some time away from other, less important cases to test the DNA left behind by this spitting offender (I assume that is how the officer KNOWS who it is, right?) That’s just the kind of professionalism I would expectorate.

So grown up of the person that spit on the LEO vehicle. I think the it shows the LEO has a sense of humor and letting whoever know they know who they are.

But no by all means spit on the police, since thats what the stance here is.

This just further illustrates the "mindset" of many LEO’s.

Wow. So childish on the deputy’s behalf. If he really knows who did it, deal with the kid. That is embarassing to the department.
