Buncombe County commissioners on Tuesday gave their stamp of approval to a fireworks permit requested by filmmakers who are reportedly planning to shoot a major motion picture around Asheville. It’s called The Hunger Games, based on the popular young adult novel of the same name. I say “reportedly” because the film company has yet to confirm any of this, despite some recent action down in South Asheville, and a series of casting calls.

Artemis is the working title of the movie. See the production company’s application here. Read the commissioners resolution here. The filmmakers want to shoot off fireworks between June 20-30 at the North Fork Reservoir.
