From Tony Kiss of the Asheville Citizen-Times:

One of Asheville’s longest-running free entertainment events has come to an end. The Concerts on the Quad series at UNC Asheville, will not be presented this summer, after the university cut funding for the outdoor performances.

The series was presented for 28 summers on the quadrangle at the UNCA campus and included a variety of different musical performances, by both local and touring groups. “We were forced to make cuts across the campus,” said UNCA associate provost Edward Katz. The series had cost the university about $12-15,000 to present each summer.
