In a solid story by my friend Gary Glancy for the Spartanburg newspaper he now writes for:

There’s a frothy storm brewing in the Upstate that, in the ever-evolving world of craft beer, could soon put Spartanburg on the map.

The story so far — RJ Rockers became Spartanburg’s first modern-day brewery in 1997 as a downtown brewery/restaurant, then moved to a 5,000-square-foot building in B&H Industrial Park off New Cut Road in 2003.
–What’s new? As part of a half-million-dollar expansion, Rockers bought a new 10,000-square-foot facility on Southport Road, as well as brewing equipment that will nearly quadruple its current production capacity, and in 2009 Rockers’ beers will be available in seven states.
–What’s next? The new equipment should arrive from China in March, and Rockers hopes to brew in the new facility by May 1.
