Joel Burgess of the Black Mountain News reports:

Black Mountain and one of Western North Carolina’s most notorious killing fields are the center of a new movie being filmed now.

Scenes from “World Made Straight,” based on the novel by W.N.C. writer Ron Rash will feature parts of downtown, including the Old Depot. Black Mountain residents also took part in one of the key sequences, the depiction of the Civil War-era Shelton Laurel massacre in Madison County.

The film crew for the low-budget independent feature plan to work in the mountains through through April 17.

One of the stops was a March 17 shoot in downtown Black Mountain. Dark City Deli and Pub owner Jennifer Mohr said she and her husband, Bill, had no idea about the movie being made until they noticed part of Cherry Street had been shut down and then saw actor Noah Wyle, a star in the long-running television series “ER.”
