This looks cool:

Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center, as well as its Board of Directors and Architecture and Design at Black Mountain College, will celebrate the grand opening of the second venue for the museum at 69 Broadway beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, with a gallery talk set for 6:45 p.m. The inaugural exhibition of Randy Shull/Wide Open: Architecture and Design at Black Mountain College and Arts Center will be celebrated at the same time. Admission is free. The event is curated by J. Richard Gruber.

The exhibition, organized by the museum entities, documents Randy Shull’s creative process in the planning, design and construction of two contemporary art museum and research environments for the museum in downtown Asheville, including the creation of hand-made furniture, counters, desks, cabinets and display systems by Shull. The exhibition explores the place of these museum spaces within the larger context of Shull’s built and unbuilt projects, and presents new art and designs inspired by the artists and spirit of Black Mountain College. Shull is an internationally recognized artist, designer and builder based in Asheville.

There will also be a gallery talk with Shull and Gruber at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be a panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 titled “Mid-Century Modern: Design for Democracy.”
